24-04-2008: Neonseven has signed the eCall MoU
Neonseven S.p.A., the wireless communications developer with its headquarters in Sgonico (Trieste - Italy), has signed today the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims the realization of the interoperable, pan-European in-vehicle emergency call system, named eCall.
The MoU, which was created in May 2004 and has been already signed by a number of industrial and public sector participants to the project, provides a solid basis for the partners to actively contribute to the development and the potential implementation of eCall in all new vehicles sold in Europe from 2010.
eCall is an in-vehicle emergency call that may be triggered manually by pushing a button in the vehicle or automatically via activation of in-vehicle sensor when an accident occurs. In the event of an accident, eCall technology will call the emergency services (PSAP, Public Safety Answering Point) and transmit a so-called minimum set of data (MSD). This enables emergency personnel (doctor, policemen or firefighters) to obtain details about the accident and their response time can be reduced up to 50%.
Demir Rakanovic, CEO of Neonseven, recognizes the importance of eCall along with a long list of other worldwide sponsors. He’s convinced that Neonseven, with its extensive knowledge in the area of mobile and location technology, will signifincantly contribute to this worldwide project and its development. The consequence of the eCall campaign is that all cars sold from 2010 will be equipped with GPRS modules and Neonseven will be at the forefront of the campaign. "Neonseven believes that, – said Mr. Rakanovic - as a result of this campaign, there will be a marked increase in in-vehicle safety. This will make European roads safer.”
Neonseven S.p.A. is a development laboratory for wireless telecommunication devices which employs about 60 experts in the area of mobile communication.
Neonseven has excellent skills in HW development, SW development and integration, debugging, testing and product certification. It has successfully completed different automotive projects and is committed to offer its services for a successful implementation of eCall.

10-10-2005: Neonseven joined a consortium for the development of a pilot project for the development of the pan European toll-payment system
LJUBLJANA, 3-10-2005: S&T Hermes Plus, together with Agencia Griva, the Group Pick & Place and NeonSeven signed a letter of intention to develop a pilot project for a new system of toll payment. It is about a strategic alliance in the area of developing a solution for the Pan-European toll payment system, where S&T Hermes represents the leading partner of the project and is going to perform system integration and develop applicative software for the main control centre.
NeonSeven is going to develop a device, which will be placed in every vehicle (an on-board unit), adapted to the requirements of the automotive industry and the European regulations. The toll payment with total protection of personal data will be made possible by using a combination of modern communication technologies, while area localisation will be possible thanks to a combination of mobile and satellite technologies. The Group Pick&Place will dedicate its time to the development and making of a device in accordance the new system of toll-payment to be installed inside the vehicle. The other participant to the project is the company Agencia Griva, which is one of the originators of the development of satellite toll-payment. The project brings along numerous advantages, among which the solution to the traffic jams on both local streets and motorways, and represents an exceptional promotion of Slovenian knowledge in the world, as S&T Hermes Plus intends to market the solution in the European Union countries.
Within the first stage, S&T Hermes Plus and partners has foreseen the realisation of the project in Slovenia, while later on they intend to expand and establish it as an attractive European solution or one of the modern solutions of the future unitary European toll-payment system. The advantage of the new system is the conformity with the European directives, while it enables the charging of tolls on all traffic areas all over Europe, contrarily to the already existing systems which are limited to individual countries.
"S&T Hermes Plus is one of the leading companies in the area of e-operating. We are convinced that with the acquired expert knowledge, established operating models and experienced business partners, we will carry out the demanding project of introducing a new toll-payment system," said Klavdij Godnič, Chairperson of the Administration Board of the company S&T Hermes Plus and General Manager of the Adriatic Region within S&T.
To carry out the project GPS technologies or Galileo will be used, together with GSM/GPRS and internet technologies and special emphasis will be laid on personal data protection.
The European directive for the introduction of a unitary toll-payment system has foreseen its development in 3 stages: final definition of the service by July 2006, obligatory use for freight vehicles by the middle of the year 2009 and by the middle of 2011, obligatory use for all vehicles in all the states belonging to the European Union. The directive 2004/52/ES of the European Parliament on inter-operability of electronic toll-payment systems in the EU contains requirements, which need to be settled also from the legislative point of view, especially the commitment of the administrators of toll-payment roads and buildings to introduce the electronic toll-payment with specific technical characteristics, defined by the EU Commission and signed by the government in our country. The directive also obliges the administrators to enable their clients to become regular clients of the European electronic toll-payment. This means that the administrators offer them the possibility to settle in one place a relationship based on a contract, which can then be used in all European toll-payment systems.

The certification has been achieved less than 2 years after the establishment of the company. This means that the procedure definition and implementation have been conducted in parallel.
The company management believes that the implementation of an appropriate quality scheme improves the quality of the N7 products and the profitability of the company. The commitment to the quality policy is highlighted also in the company vision and mission.
Daniele Protti, Neonseven's quality responsible says: "N7 ISO9001 certification has been a quite particular experience. The reality of N7, where almost all of employees are skilled engineers or doctors that already knew each other, was an input for the activity. Moreover, thanks to the company size (around 50 people) the communication inside the company is continuous. People are involved in each task by the management since the very beginning. Each employee is aware that day-by-day activities are well done if embedded in the Management System. One of the most important experience to be underlined is the fact that several Management Meetings have been conducted in order to monitor and optimize the company organization structure, mission, vision, key performance indexes and way of working".
